Surroundings & things to see  

Brassac (at 5 min.) the nearby village, dominated by its 12th century bridge, offers all the shopping expected of a local market town an open air swimming pool, tennis, fishing an equestrian center at a local farm.

The Sidobre (at 15 min.) a geological fairy land, heart of the granite industry, sculpted rocks, arranged en precarious piles, creating gigantic and chaotic formations -chaos in a word- who seems to defy the laws of balance. This monolit has inspired legends and are evidence of the mystery behind our planet's formation.

Castres (at 25 min.), largest town of the area has a wealth of cultural activities : cinemas, theater / opera house, the famous old austere houses on the Agout, the Bishop's palace now houses the Goya Museum of which the gardens are one of the finest examples of the "jardin à la française". The Gourjade sports park offers a variety of sports for the whole family : play areas, Golf 9 holes, skating rink, equitation centre, tennis, in-and outdoor swimming.

Lautrec (at 40 min.) the medieval centre of the village, well-known for its production of pink garlic, cultivation of escargots, a botanic path and the windmill, which still produces flour, goes all the way back to the 17th century.

Albi (at 60 min.) chief town of the Tarn which deserves to rank among the most beautiful cities in France. An imposing fortress (palais de la Berbie) houses the largest collection of Toulouse-Lautrec's work. The famous rose red Saint-Cecilia's cathedral is a masterpiece of the southern gothic style. Among the treasures : a beautiful french classic organ.

Gaillac (at 90 min.) is the centre of the wine region with the same name who regroupes 73 villages viticoles.

Carcassonne (at 90 min.) the largest fortified medieval town centre in Europe, composed of a countal castle, a basilica, a theatre, several narrow alleys, houses, shops and enjoyable squares, surrounded by embankments (14 towers).

Word a visite is : Roquefort, where one can visit the maturing caves and taste France's most famous blue cheese, Cordes sur ciel where you can admire the worshops and studios of about thirty artists, the Gorges d'Heric with his magnificent chaos of rocks and waterfalls, the pleasant markets of the south, the folkloristic festivities,...
